Motion for Kentucky Lottery

Social media motion for lottery client

As Shop Designer at BUNTIN

Collected works made for the client after implementing a visual refresh for the social media feed.

Kentucky Lottery is the official lottery of Kentucky. As a Shop Designer at BUNTIN, I was responsible for concepting and designing motion assets which would be used for their social media feed. The ongoing process first began with setting some initial guidelines—specifically fonts and an general layout that would creative adapt yet still maintain a cohesion throughout the feed.

After establishing some basic visual guidelines and finding inspiration for themotion language, a new style was discovered and set into place. The key process was to see what visual elements the brand currently has that I could perhaps modify to give the brand a fresher look. I looked no further and began experimenting with the brands most important design tool: the typeface. I combined adding a temporal element to the type and incorporated collage style motion when surreal themes were requested (i.e having a dog play a scratch-off lottery ticket).

Over the course of weeks, I collaborated with the copywriter to bring to life the title of the magazine. After several rounds of edits to the cover, the team landed on “sun-dial.” The title reflects the year-round usefulness and permanence of Thos. Baker’s furniture, regardless it being day or night. To keep the Thos. Baker brand prominent, the circular type treatment was devised, which also indicates the issue and the tagline of what sun-dial is.

Graphics were pulled from asset managers, then laid out on either Photoshop or Illustrator, before being pulled into After Effects for motion.
